Cool Ipod use in a 2000 Jaguar XK8

Hi. Is it possible to link my Ipod player via the radio or the 6-disc player? I do not claim any great technical knowledge beyond fitting the odd plug.
Any ideas would be much appreciated - even if it is "No"!

I took the easy way out and purchased one of the cheap tape adaptors. It plugs into the the Ipod (or any device with a mini-headphone jack) and you put the dummy tape in and play as if it's a tape.

I've moved your post from the forum feedback/advice which is for issues with the forum itself to the XK8/R section for better visibility.

As for connecting the ipod, do you know if you have the premium Alpine system or base?
This will work with either Alpine premium or base, connects through the cd player but disables use of the cd player as the ipod is now the audio source: iP-JAGCD iPod Adapter for Select Jaguar with CD Auto Changer :: iPod Adapters & Interfaces

If you have the premium Alpine system and wish to retain functionality of the cd player, then there is one other option (I chose this one very easy to install/use) JAG-CDR (from the same website although it currently shows as out of stock.

I used the cable and built a docking station into the ashtray. Works like a charm and it charges the phone as well. With the door to the ashtray you don't see a thing. Picture below:

2002 XK8 Convertible.
I have converted all my other cars over to use IPod/Android/MP3 devices that play thru the CD changer inputs (Audi, VW, Ford and Buick).
Of course nobody had anything similar for the Jag!
This is what I did:
1: iSimpleSolutions.com has the Tranzit BLU HF.
It connects between the radio and the antenna and plays through a radio frequency you choose. Tranzit disconnects the antenna when you are using it and reconnects when you want to use the radio. It is Bluetooth, gives hands-free calling through a supplied microphone and has a small surface mounted control. It has worked great and keeps Jag looking stock.
2: Pro-Fit-Intl.com has a device holder bracket (JG-51-97) that is specifically designed for our car. It is secured under the wood and extends to the right of the console. You also need to purchase a holder for your phone that mounts to the bracket.
3: Temperaturealert.com has a 12VDC to USB adapter (AC-12VUSB100) that replaces the cigarette lighter socket. The lighter power is switched on with the ignition, so all you have to do is connect + and - with spade connectors.
This brings our British Motoring Experience into the 21st century!
Best of Luck; Neil

With the Parrot MKi9200 you can plunk in a USB stick or SD card to play MP3s to boot

Instead of spending $100 on the cable, I made my own by hacking up an old ai-net cable and the female ai-net plug from an old broken alpine cd changer. Instead of connecting it to an Ipod cable I have just used female RCA plugs, and I have this connected to either my ipod or phone using an RCA to 3.5mm headphone jack.

The cable is connected between the back of the headunit, and the original ai-net cable in the car.
I'm pretty amateur when it comes to things like this, but with the help of a multimeter and some heat shrink, it's come out pretty well, and the rca plugs give me a bit more flexibility than an ipod only plug.

Google ideck cassette adaptor. It has an iPod Dock that sits at the front of the existing cassette player. I bough one not expecting it to work very well, but it surprised me. Very we'll made, sounds great and very neat.

Hi All,
do any of these solutions also work with an X350 XJR (2004 MY); Date of Manf (Sept 2003).
Mods / Admin / Snr Members, could you please point me to the right thread if this is not the correct place for this discussion.
Many Thanks
Newbie to Jag & V8 ownership.

Default Thanks for the info... but....

Thanks PaulCarr for the info but my car does not have a casette player so this solution cannot work.

I was wondering if there was a way of routing the audio out of a generic 3.5mm jack in parallel with the CD Changer output with a parallel switch or something and then ...

Really? I didn't even know that was possible. Can you show me a picture, I'm curious what it looks like.

I need a nudge with the IP-JAGCD (I bought it used on eBay) for my '06 XK8 convertible. The instructions show an amp-over-CD assembly that ideally is unfastened and tilted down. On the convertible, though, part of the roof hydraulics is bolted to this assembly. Is there an easier way to do the install?

I took the cheap route also and got the cassette adapter also. I also go cassette player head cleaner and cleaned the heads in the deck since it was telling me it was time to clean.

There are two outer bolts an each side of the assembly. Remove those and the entire CD/NAV/Amp assembly slides out of the outer frame as a unit, and the top hydraulics remains in place on the outer frame.

Can anyone identify my stereo as premium Alpine or standard stereo? Any pics on mounting locations for the Parrot MKi9200 bluetooth? Oh, and any pics of the connections on the back of the head unit?

cyber3d - believe the only way to truly know if it is premium or not is to check in the trunk - pull the covering from around the cd changer and if there is an amp in the rack, with the changer, then it is the premium
