Default J Gate lights

The backlighting on my J Gate went out, well half of it anyway. I assume that I can gain access after removing the plastic surround. Anyone else done this?

Thanks!

I need to do this sometime too. Can you post which bulbs are in there? I believe they are Jaguar specific, which, to me, is stupid.

Here's a video on how to remove the J-gate surround. One hint: do the two front clips first, then do the two back clips. It's WAY easier that way.

Sorry Keith, I don't know what kind of bulbs they are. After Spurlee does it perhaps he'll let us all know.

I think I remember someone saying they were soldered on. Looking forward to some definitive confirmation of the lighting source under there.

The bulbs can be desoldered and replaced by ones from Radioshack.
There are procedures on the board. If you cannot find it then I will look it up.
Found it!
"I replaced the bulbs that light the gear path greenish on
the J-gate selector with RadioShack #272-1154 units. You
have to buy a complete unit at the dealer!

I used a Desoldering Braid to remove the old solder and
soldered in the new bulbs reusing the old blue caps. The
circuit board connector looked delicate, I did not
disconnect it and did the work in the car.

I used the JTIS manual to get at the gear selector. Ski
slope removal seemed easier than X300s. Pry off the gear
trim and lift the veneer, carefully!"

Great post, Dan! I think there is only one bulb out on mine, so I'll probably wait until spring rolls around to do mine.
