Poor guy. Twenty years from now he'll say to himself "what was I thinking?"

25 years ago I used to race bicycles. I wanted to get a Campagnolo logo tattooed on my calf. I even went to the tattoo artist with a printed copy of the logo, but I wanted it made bigger. He said he couldn't do that, so I didn't get the tattoo. Now I'm glad I didn't. I'd hate to be stuck advertising for a bicycle company for the rest of my life, and I'm sure they'd look at me now and not want me to be advertising for them.

Tattoos are a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling.

Wow Sam. I didn't realize you had that kind of taste. Campagnolo deraileurs, etc. are still some of the finest in the world. Used to have it on my 10 speed back in the sixties. I still ride, but, can't afford the good stuff anymore. Riding Shimano now, but, I do have a carbon fiber frame....................and I still get passed by kids on walmart bikes. ha

I was a Cat II in the USCF back in the day. I sucked in the flats, but get me up in the mountains and I could beat just about anyone. I was 6'4" and only weighed 150. I used 180mm crank arms, which meant criteriums were completely out of the question.

I thought this thread was actually gonna be about guns. /disappointment

And I dunno about you road guys, but my Shimano XT set on my 1989 Diamond Back is still running fine to this day after many thousands of miles of road and trail abuse. Just a couple of weeks ago I decided to buy a new bike, got a Focus Raven carbon fiber with full Shimano XT groupset. I haven't ridden it much yet, but it's pretty amazing. It's amazing how tech has improved in the last 22 years. lol. I never raced but I had more than a few friends who did. I could keep up with most of them and would often pass up a road guy in spandex with those tiny sew up tires.

I loved my sew ups! Except when I had to repair one. I was trying to sew one back up one time and using pliers to push the needle through. The needle slipped and went under my thumbnail and came out at the knuckle behind the thumbnail. Needless to say, it kinda hurt.

I was much more careful after that.

I'm actually closer to 6'3" now. It depends on the time of day. I'm shorter in the evening. I was in an accident 5 years ago and broke 2 vertebrae in my back. That caused me to shrink a little.

Me too. But I would have to buy my wife a lot of Tequila shots to get her to agree to it.

"Tattoos are a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling" ? Some people like tats, others do not. We should be slower to judge on something so permanent and personal.
