Which Jaguar XK should I buy?

You are all out of your minds!!! First of all, no Jag should be considered without the ZF transmission. The previous trans was was weak, slow and problematic. For the price of an XK with the new transmission you can get an S-Type with the 4.2 engine and the 6 speed trans. Best Jaguar for the buck! I've had all three and the 4.2 S-type with the ZF trans just hits the sweet spot. Get an 05 with low miles for about $14000 to 17000 and just enjoy it. An Xk with the good engine and trans costs more and an XK with the old engine and trans is a dog. (A dog with problems) The S-type R is great but over priced. You can get a newer car that is better in most ways by buying a 4.2 S-Type. (preferrably with touchscreen Nav.).

Which XK8 to buy
I really loved my '97 coupe, however, I really hated and feared my '97 coupe because it was so slow and unresponsive. It was just plain unwilling. If forced,
it would run from zero to 60 in about 6.7 seconds but it sure didn't want to.
The early models also had dramatic transmission problems and a thing known as "sudden loss of compression" requiring complete engine replacement to the tune of about $12000.00. I never had either of these problems but mine was still slow and unresponsive. The 4.2 engine with the ZF transmission came out in '03 and changed everything. Transmission and ECU remapping had improved things between 2000 and 2003 but it was nothing like the new drivetrain. That

One thing I've learned is that befoer you buy a car, know exactly what you want otherwise you won't be happy. If you really want an XK, wait. If you really want a Camaro, wait. As soon as you buy a different car... the deal of a lifetime will pop up. Properly spending your money is worth the wait.

I am selling my Sapphire blue 2003 XK8 for $17,000. It has 58,000 miles and I am the second owner. It has always been garage kept and dealer serviced. It comes with the Jaguar extended warranty (tranferable) which is good until August 2010 or 85,000 miles. No navigation but the 19" rims. If interested please email to bpmfla@comcast.net
