I am with dsnyder "bore wash". The only reason is we have no idea what XK8 you are working on. Throw us a bone and lets us know year/engine.
If yours is the early version then to clear the bore wash do the following steps.
1. Push the accelerator all the way to the floor and hold it there. This shuts off fuel to the injectors.
2. Crank the engine for about 5 seconds, stop and wait 10 seconds and crank again. Repeat this about 3 or 4 times. DO NOT LET UP ON THE PEDAL.
3. The final time, crank the engine as though you are trying to start it. As you crank slowly raise the pedal off the floor and see if it starts.
You may have to repeat a couple of times but if it is bore wash it will start.
