Welcome to the forum captwiseman,
I've moved your post to the tech section for a better response.
Please try and post an intro in the new members section when you can.
Did you do anything other than change the battery? What is happening now, any lights clicks etc? Or is it just dead?

You know, the battery went dead I replaced the battery and now the car tries to start all lights work turns over but will not start. I was thinking I have a Interlock system on the vehicle that requires a breath test, I think that might be the problem.

Could be, can you contact whoever fitted it and see if it needs reset after a battery change.

Default XK8 not starting

I checked with the interlock people and I was told that my unit has not locked me out. So my thought about the interlock is NOT the problem.

Why have you changed the battery?
Car starts and runs normal until you´ve changed the battery?

I am with dsnyder "bore wash". The only reason is we have no idea what XK8 you are working on. Throw us a bone and lets us know year/engine.

If yours is the early version then to clear the bore wash do the following steps.
1. Push the accelerator all the way to the floor and hold it there. This shuts off fuel to the injectors.
2. Crank the engine for about 5 seconds, stop and wait 10 seconds and crank again. Repeat this about 3 or 4 times. DO NOT LET UP ON THE PEDAL.
3. The final time, crank the engine as though you are trying to start it. As you crank slowly raise the pedal off the floor and see if it starts.
You may have to repeat a couple of times but if it is bore wash it will start.

The year of my Jag is a 2000, I do not know the engine type, it is a 8 cylinder.

A 2000 model has the 4.0 engine. Beginning with the 2003 model here in the U.S., it is a 4.2 engine. The 4.2 engines have fewer problems due to some of the weaknesses of the 4.0 engines being revised and corrected....

Follow Averns advice and report back. Make sure your battery is at full charge!
