Default Jaguar xk8 exhaust

i have a jaguar xk8 1997 with the original exhaust. I was thinking in delete only the center muffler an put H. Or delete only the 4 rear muffler. What recomendation is the best? Or what you recomend with low cost. I want to hear the V8 sound without spending money. Best regards

my friend removed the rear boxes for straight pipe on his with a very good result. others have changed to different rear boxes which my friend might eventually do. center section work is touchy, pricey and might screw-up performance. work in the center might lead to the burble inherent to v-8's by design. our system eliminates that. note that there is a scavenging effect to the current design which is part of the design. you could gain sound at the expense of HP. once again, center system work requires engineering and understanding of expectations.

I removed the two before axle boxes, now has a mild rumble at idle and nice but not to loud on excelleration. At cruse nice and quite.

Add a Mina intake kit and the excelleration sound of the intake along with the exhaust is very nice.

I went too far, putting straight through right from the centre box backwards - ie neither intermediate nor rear boxes present. Yes, sounded wonderful on hard acceleration. But it was so noisy it made conversation difficult and long journeys exhausting, so I replaced the straight through rear pipes with the original silencers (the straight through pipes will be for sale, btw). Still louder than original, with only the intermediate pipes replaced with straight through, but a nice compromise between engine thunder and serene driving.

So whatever you do decide to do, take it step by step, and think about your comfort. Let us know how you get on!

I have the Mina real muffler delete. Nice sound on acceleration. Quite at idle and cruising. On the highway, anytime you give it the smallest about of gas, you will hear it.

I fitted a new millex system with back boxes only, it sounds great; deep V8 burble and growl.

But it can be a touch noisy when cruising under load, i.e on a the motorway using cruise control its not to loud but when/if the there is a hilly section (lots where I live) its a bit noisy on the way up

Default XK8/R Exhaust Upgrade

Does anyone know of a source for a pipe to delete just the 2 before the axle boxes? Ideally it would be mandrel bent to go over the axle and fit into the factory rear boxes.

I removed the two Rear Resonators . Had a muffler shop remove them and replaced with a piece of pipe. Used the original tips. Gives a nice rumble going slow and sounds great under hard acceleration. Also very pleasant at highway speeds inside the cabin.

I too used the Mina rear muffler delete package. Rear " cans" behind axle. I also added new chrome tips for that extra growl. I do like the sound. Note, some complain of a grown at high way speeds. I've never found a problem, some may.
