Default Jaguartechinfo.com?

I found this website listed in a Jaguar TSB. Apparently it's an official Jaguar site, but they only tease you with useful info. You can see the titles of the info, and links to it, but to actually get the info you have to mail back a registration form and I think you have to be a real garage that works on Jaguars and stuff. Has anyone tried to get access? If I mail back the form with a made-up business name name will they figure me out? Maybe I'm a newly opened garage and I want to work on jags...

Here's the link:

By the way, they list several recalls for my MY of XK8 (2003) and one of them is for a transmission recall. It says the transmission is supposed to be replaced. How do I know if that recall has been done?

We were just discussing that site over HERE. Shady found its only $274 for a years subscription. If you had a few 'investors' you could hook us all up.

You guys are confusing tech service bulletins with a recall. Theyre two ttotally different things. A tsb is done when a a problem that relates to that tsb. Ie the tsb for a p0741 torque convertor clutch malfunction say to replace the torque convertor. These are provided as what jaguar wants done to fix a problem and the parts needed to perform that repair. It doesnt meen you can just go in and get all these done. And theyre only covered when youer under factory warranty. They still apply after that but you pay then
and jaguar has that site as a "public access site" you register, i dont know that you have to be a shop, just a registered user^^^and theres your cost

Up until a few weeks ago, all the info on that site was free... and super useful. I actually found a number of bulletins that described things that were happening on my vehicle and got my dealer to do them all under warranty.

Since that time, they've implemented a subscription fee for access - but it's pretty reasonable, $14 for one day access. Nissan/Infiniti used to be like $20. I remember I paid for one day, and downloaded all the PDF files to my computer, and had the whole service manual at my fingertips. I may do the same for the Jag if I have a free evening.

I had also discussed it on a different thread. They changed the site a week or so ago and now it is subscription only like it aluded to on the previous site. I had access for about two weeks before they made the switch. One thing that I found interesting is you can buy a subscription for a day, so if you have a job you want to do you could just buy the one day subscription to have the docs for the day you needed it.

Does Jaguar call TSB's "Recall Actions"? Because that's what the website says in regards to my transmission and a couple of other things. Look at this screenshot.

Sam isn't yours the 6 speed transmission? I think the 5hp24 was from the prior models that had the 4.0L not the 4.2L.

Yep, mine is definitely a 6 speed, and I have the 4.2. I fiddled with that website a little more, and when I put in my actual VIN number it took away the transmission recall. The others are still there, though. So are those actual recalls, or just TSBs?

I'm really interested in the one about the limited throttle opening. Maybe I can get some more power by simply securing the throttle cable adjusting nut. Does anyone know anything about that without me having to pay for access to the site?

that is a recall, tech service bulletins aka jag tech bulletins (JTB) are different. But man thats an old (11 yrs) recall and small vin range. and it only covers 1999 xk and xj, no R's and even in the vin ranges listed there are vins that have known good units and the recall doesnt apply to those either. On the one for the throttle cable thats for putting a tie strap over the adjusting nut to keep it from popping out of the bracket. You can and should make sure your throttle cable is adjusted with little to no slack so that you have good pedal to throttle response as the cable gets streached over time

I thought these throttles were "drive-by-wire" and, hence, no cable to the throttle body?

starting a new thread about this 'throttle cable adjustment', seems an easy adjustment and I'm excited to do it!
