Default 2nd Attempt with photo link jamjax New 2003 XKR Photos of the 160MPH Kitty

My Italian Super model wife insisted that I buy a convertible for our anniversary because I have been deprived since we moved to Europe in 2005.

Drove this back from London on Sunday.

Hit 160mph/257kph at one point.

Averaged 90mph over 600 miles and 24mpg.

65000 miles on the clock.

Quietest convertible I have ever driven.

Took these snaps about an hour ago in the meadow that overlooks Geneva and the French Alps just up the hill/alp from the house.

cheers,

jj

I can get only one photo to upload so if you are still interested here is the link to the photos.

They are worth it since one of my mates I emailed them to accused me of cutting them out of a magazine.....

MR and TP Thanks for letting me know.

No idea what is wrong because they open when ever I view the page, same as now.

I copied and pasted them from my email because I couldn't seem to post any other way.

Any moderators out there who are not preparing for Thanks Giving?

I could email them to a moderator and have them upload the photos.

cheers and thanks again for letting me know.

Two ways to do it:

Upload them to a photo sharing website such as Photobucket.com. right click on the photo on the Photobucket page and click "copy image url" (or whatever the text says in your particular browser. Each is different and IE doesn't allow you to copy image urls at all). Then come to jag forums, click the little yellow icon with the mountain and the grey sun, and paste the url into the text box that pops up when you click that icon. You'll have to do that for each individual pic, you can't post a group of pictures that way.

The other way is to upload them directly to jag forums. If you'll click the "go advanced" button down below, you'll see a little icon with a paper clip. You can select each picture on your hard drive and then upload them to jag forums. They will show up as thumbnails, but we can click on them to make them larger.

Oh yeah... I forgot to mention. You must post pics of your Italian supermodel wife.

Seriously... It's in the rules.

Looking at the source, you've actually posted links into your personal GMAIL account. Luckily we don't have the password, or we'd all be able to email your wife :-)

You should post the pictures to some kind of 'public' photo site (like Flickr), then link to them there.

Thanks Malbec.

I was wondering about that.

Do you happen to know if those are the Silver or the Oyster color....I can't tell...really the first photo is the closest in color.

Because I think I know where I can get a new set of Oyster Detroit's for 800£...

cheers,

I'll help, we don't have Thanks Giving in France. Your Picasa link doesn't work.

If you follow all the Revs instructions things should work.

The forum software will resize jpg images automatically.

Your picassa link has stopped working, so I can't see the wheels anymore.
I would like to know the colour too, I think mine are silver but would like a side by side comparison with oyster colour. Tried google images but couldn't find a comparison.

Malbec and Translator thanks;

Try this new link:

https://picasaweb.google.com/jamesac...wHomeInTheAlps

PS does anyone know what this plaque from on top of the left front wheel well is telling me?

Are those the codes for the engine, options etc?

Also my hand book seems to be from a 2001 model even though the date of 1st registration is July 2003.

Any way to tell from looking at the engine if it is a 4.2?

I also understand it should have a 6 speed Automatic transmission and since this is the first one I have seen up close I notice that the gate on the left of the shifter only has 2-5 marked detents.

Does that mean you can't start or hold it in 1st and that if you want to go above 5th gear you have to move the shifter from left to right to the 'D' position?

thanks for any insights and cheers,

jj

Absolutely beautiful car and great photos; would be perfect for a calendar. What about the photo of your Italian supermodel wife.

Ah lads this is a car site not a Super Model site.....but trust me she is.

While she is a Genius, International Diplomat, Gourmet cook, and looks like an Italian Movie Star, even when she is digging in her garden or walking the dogs when I met her she was a Pontiac Firebird Poster Girl and a Hawaiian Tropic model.....nuf said.

We need photos, or we won't believe you. My wife has appeared on here before, so why can't yours?

VIN should clearly identify Model Year. The manufacture date should be on a label on the driver door 'B' column. Model year designation seems to vary from country to country. UK appears to use the calender manufacture date. US is whatever EPA decal is applied.

Frog:

What's important is that I believe.....

TP Thanks;

Vin is SAJAC42R643A37223

First Registered July 30, 2003 according to the seller.

FYI the plaque is on the left hand door post.

It has this curious info on the top line.

e11*95/54*0062*

Then the weight:

2185 kg

When I ran the Vin number it actually indicated that this car was part of the 2004 Model year by about 400 cars....

But I don't know the code for the top line of the door Plaque or what any of the numbers and codes are on the fender well plaque I asked about.

And on the bottom line:

Paint JHV Trim LHJ FV

Your VIN shows that it is a 2004 model. The 10th digit is 4 which is 2004.
http://www.autocalculator.org/VIN/Jaguar-VIN.aspx
The weight is interesting, you show 2185kg. My 2005MY XKR Coupe is 2110kg.
So coupe is 75kg lighter than convertible !
I think you have 6 speed box. My J gate the same as yours. Handbook shows drive to 5th if you put it there. You didn't do 160 in 5th I hope !!
I just leave mine in D usually with Sport on unless in town.
Other differences I can see are no quad pipes, no speed limiter switch(next to sport switch, but who needs it!),no chrome bezels around dials, no chrome surround to J gate. Also different front grill.
Still cant tell colour of your wheels but I rekon mine are silver.
here's a piccy...
