The cars have a bad reputation for QC. All the things you already know about. Plus today you have $4 gas, V8 motor, luxury car in a recession, etc., etc. They really are a great deal for a buyer.

Don't sell it. Keep it and buy another one.

You will always get a low figure on trade in versus selling outright.

I just bought a 99 XK8 for $12,995. I'm keeping it, and in two years I going to pick up a 2003 XKR and park them both in the garage. No one believes me when I tell them the XK8 get 25 MPG Highway, same as my V6 mustang, so I am going to quit telling them.

Anyone know the rated MPGfor aXK8? I got 26MPG driving it home from FL back in March with a bad wheel bearing and idler pulley. I haven't had her out on a long run since.

That's not bad, but remember mileage is all relative to speed and driving style. My 01 XKRwith the 4.0L engine got 26mpg on a recent trip. The 4.2L engine with the 6 speed tranny will do even better. My XJ8 will get 30+ on the highway with the cruise set at 70mph.

27 highway is what the 03 xk8 will do with that six-speed, at least on paper. i have gotten around 28-29 average on long highway trips. You are right up there in the upper end, and they said jags don't get good gas mileage. more cars should have six speeds in their bellys, and i'm a little suprised most don't these days to get better highway mileage..after all, lots of people commute to work ...whats the average, 30 miles one way? I bet most of that are on highways (but most likely in gridlock).
