Default Key Fob

Somewhere in all of this information I saw something about cleaning key fobs. I can't find it again. One of my fobs works, the other does not. I opened the inopeable one and found some black sticky stuff. Like a good boy, I cleanded it. That didn't fix it. I opened the working fob, and it had black sticky stuff too. Then I thought... maybe the black sticky stuff has a purpose. Can someone help me find that previous thread, or tell me about cleaning fobs?

The 'search' function will not look for words of 3 letters or less, making it difficult to find things like 'key fob'.

A little alcohol on a Q-tip will clean up the gunk. Check or replace the battery.
