The climate control display does not illuminate at night, with my head lights on in my ’97 XK8. Can anyone tell me what I’m in for? What do I do to fix it?

if every other light works.. then you just need two bulbs.. dealers sell them about $7 each..

 

All other lights work fine.How do I replace the bad bulbs? Iassume I have to pull the climate control unit. Is that a job for a Jag rookie like me or do I put it down on my wish list for the dealer?

dealer shoud only charge maybe 1/2 hr. and include bulbs and tax.. maybe $100

 

My 01 Vanden Plas has the same issue, except it's just one side of the climate control display (so I guess it's just one bulb that's out). I understand that the dealer can fix it for around $100, but if I wanted to do it myself, how would I do it?

Remove center console and remove audio and climate panels.
