Leather behind door pocket
Hi everyone. Looking for some advise. The leather behind my door pocket on the drivers side door is sagging, and I am trying to figure out the best way to fix it. From what I can see, if I remove the door panel, there is no leather showing on the back, and the door pocket looks like it is riveted to the door panel. Has anyone had this issue, and if so, how to repair? I have not removed the door panel yet, and I am going on information based on others peoples work in YouTube videos. Thanks in advance.

I have done this repair. Two things - buy replacement foam backed fabric in the right colour first. You will need this to reupholster the fabric bit, which will be disintegrating and you'll kick yourself for not replacing it while you have it all apart and easy to re-do nicely. Second, remove the door card then you need to dremel the heads of the melted-in plastic rivets to release the door pocket/handle section. Then you can then separate the pocket from the door card and re-glue the leather and replace the foam back fabric, gluing with contact adhesive. Then reassemble and either plastic weld the rivets up again (get a plastic welder) or use epoxy to re-seal them. I used epoxy. plastic welder would give you more material to work with if you ever had to repeat the process.
