Left side lower than right caused by shocks?
I noticed the other day that when looking at the rear of the car, the driver's side looked lower than the passenger side. I measured and sure enough, the driver's side is 1/2 inch lower at the wheel well. I mentioned it to the body shop (The car is still there from the accident mentioned in my last post). I mentioned that maybe it was caused by deteriorated shock bushings. The body shop guy crawled underneath to look and came out with a hand full of bushing material. I'm right at 60k now and am thinking that that new shocks will cure the problem. Does that make sense? If so, I've found Billstein replacements at partsgeek.com for about $370. It mentions they are for XKs without adaptive control. What the heck i

Shocks don't support the car they just dampen the ups and downs. While you might be due for new shocks, they will not raise the car back up. It sure sounds like the upper shock mounts (I assume you're talking about the front shocks) are due for replacement.
Mine are long overdue and next on my list. I'll probably gain at least an inch at the nose if not two.

Which corner is dropped chaz?
I'm not as familiar with the rear suspension. How about some wheel well measurements on all corners and we'll see what we can advise. A 1/2" is quite a bit.
I agree with oregon, before you start throwing shocks at it, I'd look at the bushings first. Get it up on a lift, much easier to see than trying to ask someone to crawl underneath.

OK, just got the car back. The shock on the drivers side rear was original and the bushing was shot, on the right was a Bilstein. Apparently the previous owner only had the one replaced. Anyway, now I have matching Bilsteins on the rear and the car is level..which is more than I can now say for my checking account.

Glad to see your problem is fixed. For situations where a shock is good, but the bushing has deteriorated, there are emplacement bushings available for the lower mounts on the Bilsteins.
You have to look around for them, but they are available. I know because I replaced mine. They were stubborn to remove and replace. A press is required.
