All,
Today was the first time I removed my left hand side front wheel well liner to change the pads and disc. All was going well until about 3 mins after removing the liner a chunk of foam fell from the inner wing.... I had not noticed it in situ so don’t know where it goes back or even if it belongs in there. If anyone can help me relocate it it would be nice.
It does belong in there. It was placed to reduce NVH. I think it fits at the front if the inner wing, near a corrugated hose that snakes its way in there.
There is also a similar foam piece at the A pillar just forward of the door hinges. I noticed it a month or so back when I had the LH (US driver’s side) inner liner out. I can’t remember its exact shape compared to the one in the wash bottle area forward of the tire, but yes there is a piece there as you surmised. In either location, the foam fits up high against the underside of the top of the fender.
For both pieces, the long curve goes snug against the fender with the pointed side up. Using that orientation, why not move the foam into each of those spots and see if there is a fixed object (bracket, hose etc) that matches the "dents" in your foam.
