Default List of Performance Improvements

For this thread please list any performance improvements for the XK8.

How to Post in this thread:
  • Give a description of the improvement and the effect of that improvement.
  • If available, link to a more detailed thread on that improvement.
  • The only reason to post on an already listed improvement is to correct wrong information.
  • If this improvement is specific to a car year or engine type, list that.

What not to put in the thread:
  • Modifications that avoid issues, but do not improve performance. For example, decreasing the voltage for the hydraulic fluid pump to avoid a green shower.
  • Repairs to bring up factory specs. For example, putting in new OEM shock mounts.
  • For improvement is listed, do not add more posts on that improvement type.

Example:

4.0L: Changing the spark plugs from the original gap of .044 to .052. I used the NKG PFR5G-13E. This improvement is at the advice of a Jag TSB. It is hard for me to tell if it is the new gap or just new spark plugs but the car absolutely is smoother after the change. Detailed Thread.

The greatest performance improvement you can make is to move up to a XKR. 100hp more and better handling.

Removed before axle resonators, added Mina Gallery high flow intake, adjusted the throttle cable. It may all be a plasebo effect but it sounds better and I think responds better.

This is a good idea but the subjectivity of 'performance' may vary, ie smoother running vs dyno test HP. ex; spark plugs, was it the gap or new ones?

02 XKR
Bosch High output Inter-cooler Pump
Provides higher through put of the inter-cooler loop from stock pump which should lead to better performance and longevity of the IC.

Any handling improvement is likely to be subjective as you would need track times for before and after to show a real benefit.

For BHP performance improvements, ideally before and after dyno plots should be shown or before and after MAF peak readings at a push.

Subjective comments are close to pointless, as I've noticed that my car feels faster after I wash it.

Obviously an aerodynamic improvement and you're just exquisitely sensitive

Hand wash is less likely to smash your aerial off... :'(

I disagree, let the reader do research on subjective posts and decide if he/she would like to follow up.

You will spend thousands trying to improve the power of an XK8 you are better to take the cash and the car and buy an XKR...... So I agree with RJ on this one

Not to appear arrogant but if anyone knows it will be me........
