Default Bonnet (hood) closure

Does anyone else have problems getting the bonnet to latch shut properly? Mine seems to need 2 people - 1 to press it down firmly (only on the left - the right is fine) while the other pulls on the release lever...

My Cable needs some lube (haven't quite figured out how to get it done yet) so when I pull the lever to open the hood I have to manually push it back forward, then when I close the hood it always latches. Could be your latches themselves need a bit of lube?

The latches "seem" to be well greased and move freely. I was wondering if it is somehow slightly out of alignment?
Maybe its heat-related, as I had the problem when I topped up the screenwash after a long run. I'll try it again when cold (and make sure I have a little helper to hand).

Had similar problem on drivers side. Did not latch proper without firm pushing. Bonnet side latch hook is adjustable. Loosened bonnet hook torx bolts and adjusted hook couple of times to get proper shut.

Let the bonnet down about 2/3 from open, and simply drop it. It will latch both side without having to "palm" the edges to latch it.

Jaguar bonnets have never closed with a click. I can't think of any other quality vehicle manufacturer who uses the word 'slam' in the instructions!

I raised the point on a factory visit many years ago asking why Jaguar could make a door that closes with a 'clunk', a boot that closes with a click but a bonnet that sounds like a tin can being thrown down the stairs. Engineering were unable to come up with a convincing explanation then or, over thirty years later, a solution.
