Default Looking for Information

I'm looking a purchasing used, early 2000, XKR. What are the things to look for to properly evaluate the car to be sure that it's a good buy.

I've moved your post to XK8/XKR section. You'll get more viewing and faster response here.

Well I thought you'd get a faster response but so far nothing!

Go to the section FAQ's at the top of this thread list and scroll down to the first topic:

I’m buying a used XK8/XKR, what should I look for?

There's two further links there full of information on what to look for.

I can't tell you much about the 2000 XKR but you might get more replies if you subject line were more specific. Something like, "Need advice buying a 2000 XKR." "Looking for information" might not be intriguing enough.

Hi I recently purchased a 1998 XKR for the wife and I am fortunate that I can do all the work myself, There are books on Ebay for less than $20 dollars ( I also bought one Essential buyers guides ) you are on the right track to purchase a 2000 or later car as they changed the engine cylinders back to steel instead of the troublesome nikasil lined units. Even some of the 2000 models had the old engines fitted to get rid off stocks. Cam chain / tensioners need to be replaced so buy with service history and the work has been done otherwise discount the price $3000 and have it done asap.

If you can afford it go for a later model just to get away from the timing chain problems Jim described.
Jaguar finally managed to get rid of most of the problems by 2003/4 - but only most of them!

service history is a good way to buy or sell a car..mine came with a stack..tentioners are the only thing I would be worried about
