Was test driving a 99 XK8 with 41K miles after driving it for about 5 miles came back and turned the corner going back to owners home, the speed dropped from 40 to 20 in seconds, and the warning light, said failsafe engine, also failsafe stability control. all power brakes, steering, still worked but could not accelerate past 15 mph. We let the car sit for about 10 mins. started it and it ran normal , owner stated this had happened before, Like the car but this sends up a warning flag to me. any ideals or advise greatly appreicated, have learned a lot from you folks on here and have avoided several money pit jags. Can you get the codes?

 

Neither one of us had a code reader, based on a couple of other items on this car, I decided to pass on it and keep looking.

 

You may want to keep this one in the back of your mind while searching. You will encounter codes with these cars. Go to Autozone and see if they can retrieve the codes. Could be a simple repair. If the seller has all the records this could be worth looking at again. But as your search continues you will understand this comment. Got to like the mileage though.
