Default low coolant sensor light

I previously posted about replacing the coolant expansion tank but I would like to know how to disable the warning light from coming on. The sensor is broken and when my mechanic replaced just the sensor the light stayed on. next he simply unplugged the sensor and the light still stayed on.

Looks like the entire reservoir and sensor needs to be replaced.

Is there a way to disable the low sensor warning from coming on? The coolant level is fine, I really dont need the light since I routinely check my fluids. There might be a dedicated fuse for that sensor that might do the trick

Thanks

Honestly, I really think you need a working coolant light.

That said, sounds like its the float in the tank. If you manually lift the float (with a string or otherwise) does the light go off?

The floats inside the reseviors have been known to stick, causing the light to come on and stay on.

I highly recommend you keep the warning light working properly. I've seen people just use scotchlocks on the wiring, or disconnecting the sensor and jumping a paperclip across the terminals on the harness side, but I don't recommend do this, however it is your vehicle, do as you wish.

A magnet on the sensor will shut it off if the sensor works or jump the wires.

I don't know what we all did when cars didn't have coolant level sensors. We actually had to open up the cap and check the coolant level once in a while.

True. If you do bypass it, watch your temperature a bit more closely and check levels on a schedule.

Best!
