Default Lower steering column MJE9502AC

I plan to change mine at some point as there is wear in the U joints, however the replacement parts seems to look completely different to mine. Parts on ebay and OEM look the same but not like mine, however it looks like that part number has never changed. Can anyone explain this?

OEM

Mine

Has anyone ever seen their lower steering rack and can comment on which it looked like?

RaceDiagnostics,
I've never seen mine but the diagram in the US 2003MY workshop manual looks an awful lot like yours.

Thanks for that, pretty strange that the part number did not change.

Well I had a stroke of luck, I found a listing on ebay for a brand new unit posted by a localish Jag dealer selling off unwanted stock. List price ~ £400, and I won the auction for £26.

The lower universal joint was missing but luckily I had a spare.

Will get this fitted once the temps are a few degrees above zero.

Since Jaguar were selling this on ebay as being fully functional, which was incorrect, as a new lower coupling can not be bought separately, I decided to bring this to their attention. In response, I expected them to say "please send back for a refund" or offer a partial discount, instead they said, "send it back and we will send you a "complete" new replacement, which is what they have now done. I was pretty surprised!

What a bargain !! Has he got any more of them - would be worth putting away "just in case" at that price !!

There's one on Ebay at the moment :
STEERING COLUMN LOWER COUPLING / UNIVERSAL JOINT Jaguar XK8 XKR 1996-2006 (X100) | eBay
from a '97 car that looks like the picture you posted at the top of this thread. Maybe they changed the design, but not the part number, at some point between 1997 and 2002. In which case .............. maybe they are interchangeable ?

This was the original listing, don't know if they have any more.
