Smile lowing rear XK8

I would like to lower the rear suspension of my 2002 Jaguar XK8 OTS (convertible). I have seen lowering springs by several mfgs. with conflicting information. Some say excluding converts. some say include convert. Looking to lower it about 1.5 inches to take up the space between top of tire and wheel well. Front looks low enough. Its only for cosmetics. I also need suggestions on spring supplier and will the rear need realigning.
Don't want this to turn into a nightmare but would like to do it myself and need some advise from someone with a success story. Thanks for advise in advance

My Experience:

In addition, I changed the Rear Axle Shims from 4.0mm to 7.5mm to correct for the increased Negative Camber that resulted from the Lowering.

Up here at Canadian Tire automotive, you can buy 4 small clamps that pull two coils together as much as you want in order to lower the car. Can't vouch for them but they're cheap and likely available at any automotive supplier. I would be interested in hearing if any of our pros have worries about them.
I was going to give them a try on my rears since the action is progressive and reversible. Good luck.

The Clamps would have to be mostly external to the Spring because there is not very much clearance between the Spring and the Shock mounted inside it.

Not sure I understand how this works. If they clamp onto the springs to tension them into a lower height, what happens when the springs are compressed? In normal driving the springs will compress and decompress. Wouldn't that loosen the clamps?

Interested in hearing about how the clamping method works. I need to lower my 420 front. After an engine swap its got like 3 inch clearance between fenders and tire.

I have never used them, yet. Hoping to hear from someone with experiance. They are little more wide than the width of the bolt that pulls the two ends together. The two ends hook on to a coil each. They can also be reversed to push, for a moderate raise I guess. The way they were shown, they were on opposite sides of the spring and on the outside.

I've never used the clamps, but I've seen them on a spring before, there is not enough compression to loosen the clamps after they're tightened down. I was watching a show a couple of months ago were they cut the spring to lower it I think the equation was half a coil drops it down 1" They used a hand held cut off saw so it wouldn't heat the spring to to change the hardness. That would be a cheap alternative to buying aftermarket springs. I suspect the aftermarket lowering springs are cut just a little shorter.
