Default Maintenance Schedule

Hey,
New here and new Jag owner. Just bought a 98 XK8. I'm a little afraid to drive this. It has 64k on it and has been maintained. I don't have the books.
Can someone tell where I can see the maintenance schedule for this model? I want to see what has to be done at each schedule.
Thanks guys/gals
Rob

Hi Rob,
Welcome to the forum.
You will be able to download copies of the handbooks from the stickies section, although I think that you need to have made several posts before they become available.

In the meantime, member Gus has made the maintenance schedule available on his website:

I believe the 30K interim spark plug change was subsequently dropped.

Rob, welcome. If the timing chain tensioner is redone, quick bit of advice, don't be afraid to drive her, drive, turn, fly...

Expect the car to punish you (leaking, coughing, spitting, stopping) if you don't drive her. (She may occasionally do those things too when you do, but you had fun driving her, and you can keep her happy so she doesn't act up)

The most recent one purchased by my 'team' had ~50K on it, and the previous owner was terrified of driving it (and terrified that it would blow up on my female 'new XK8 recipient' on the road from CT to NC), he had had her for about a year, put, I think, about 250 miles on her. A 550 mile trip back and it was difficult to pry my driver out of the car, apparently she wanted to continue down to Key West.

Thanks. I'm not sure if the tensioners were changed. Not sure if the previous owner knows either. It was her dad's and he has passed. I am still waiting for the service records. What I do know, the car was religiously serviced. It was an older man in Palm Springs.
Rob.

Inspect them urgently. If they let go it destroys the engine.

I'll throw my .02 (cents or pence). I agree, check into the tensioners. See if they have been replaced or not and go accordingly. I suspect if the PO was as indeed particular about his car, he had the tensioners fixed. Pull the cam covers and see.

Dale: I love the "wanted to go to Key West". That's precious. I think I might like to to cruise it with the top dropped myself.

Radjag: Love the white on that thing, looks great. Your front looks a little low in that pic. Might need strut top mounts. Enjoy. I bet it's n great shape. TM
