If say you were to disconnect the Map sensor on a 2000 XKR, what would be the obvious symptoms?




I have an idle problem (seems to pulse and idle low and runs rich at idle). Turns out this car has a lot of minor problems I'm finding as I go through it. I took the car to a place for the codes to be pulled and basically everything flagged. O2, EGR, misfire cylinders 1-8 (map sensor could have been flagged, but the guy kind of quit reading off the codes after all the misfires codes. So far I have cleaned the MAF (it was filthy) Removed the throttle body and found EGR mount connections loose (almost finger tight) (tightened). EGR valve outlet was clogged with carbon (cleaned), Supercharger intake hoses by throttle body were leaking (tightened connections). Car has more power off idle now, but pulses at idle and idles low and runs rich. By accident the vacuum tube to the MAP sensor came off and I noticed that there is no difference in the car idling. I decided to play with the connections (disconnected electrically, and vacuum connections) and there is no difference. I also applied a separate vacuum source to the MAP sensor and there was no difference. I would think this valve needs to be replaced?


Any suggestions?

2000 XKR coupe 123K miles.

 

Hose was off the sensor on my 2001 XKR. Check engine light was on. Code showed MAP sensor. Now to find it, the hardest part. Its behind the throttle body mounted to the firewall.

 

Did you notice if your car ran any differently?
I just changed the MAP sensor, and there was no difference in the pulsing idle. The good: After I cleaned the EGR valve the misfire 1-8 cylinder codes are gone. Will remove and try to clean the upper O2 sensors.

Actually I wouldn't have known if the light wasn't on.

 

Update: Bought an OBDII scanner, due to all the problems the car had, the car went into Open Loop mode. Changed MAP, MAF,(time change more than anything) cleaned EGR valve (clogged) mount bolts were loose also, new throttle body gasket, now the only codes I get is open loop due to system failure and two codes for O2 sensors heaters being slow. I tried to pull the passenger side sensor but it is really in there, will probably remove the cat in the near future. Car has 123k miles,
