Minor Annoyances with Door Mirrors
I’m asking the braintrust for help here figuring out what is happening.
I replaced the broken door mirror motors with good used units from Autoreserve. I also went ahead and cleaned up the door switchpack. Before final assembly I confirmed they both work in all 4 directions on the passenger door mirror.
After final assembly, I noticed the following issues:
1. The driver’s door mirror does not work at all when actuating it from the switchpack but the passenger door mirror works flawlessly in all four axis when operating the switchpack. When operating the memory buttons, the driver’s door mirror reacts sometimes whereas the passenger door mirror always reacts.
2. When reversing, the passenger door mirror dip works as intended when I tug on the lever by dipping When I put the car in drive it automatically returns to its original position. However, if I instead select park, the mirror does not automatically return to the original position, forcing me to move it back to position using the door switchpack or the memory buttons.
Troubleshooting:
Driver’s door mirror: I swapped the mirror motors to see if the problem would move to the passenger side. It did not, the problem remained at the driver’s side. I re-installed the original mirror motors to see if those worked on the driver’s door despite the broken plastic arms. There was no whirring from the old mirror motors that would indicate they are working. So I re-installed the new mirror motor because the problem seems unrelated to the mirror motors.
I then checked the driver’s side cabin fuse box, particularly fuses 1,2,5 and 12. They were all good. I then checked all of the fuses on the driver’s side cabin fuse box instead of just the ones the fusebox diagram mentioned. They are all good.
Passenger mirror dip: I haven’t done any troubleshooting other than making sure I select drive before park.
Hypothesis
It seems to me that either the driver’s side mirror motor is not receiving power, or the door switchpack is not communicating with the driver’s door mirror? It used to work before I replaced the mirror motors (but only up and down because the plastic tabs were broken).
For the dip function, I’m suspecting a microswitch at the gear selector has failed? What’s interesting is that it worked fine before I replaced the mirror motors.
What do you guys think is happening?

I would suspect the left/right rocker switch is somehow only working in the passenger position. Maybe test the mirror switch pack is working as intended with a multimeter. Check pin 2 especially.
