Default mirror control

Quick question please. 2002 XKR. Is it possible to remove the mirror control/ window control unit from the door without removing the door card?

Someone may have a technique that I don’t know, but I don’t see how one could do that.

IIRC you pull out the black insert in the cavity and there is one screw to remove. Then it lifts out.

you can look at pics of the panel and the control on eBay to see exactly the location of screw.

It’s easy to do.

If I recall right and it is panel in picture, remove insert and screw underneath then control lifts out. I dismantled mine and cleaned all contacts to get it working again (small parts inside, so be careful).

In fact, you can't actually remove the door card without first removing the switches.

Thanks to all. I'm trying to remove the white panel referenced by tsuppari, but having some difficulty, probably from a fear of breaking something. Is there a trick to it?

Sorry can't recall exact remove procedure, fixed mine 10 years ago. Maybe someone else can help.

Use a plastic trim removal tool to lever it out. The clip that holds it in place is about the dead center of the panel.

Probably a it late by now, but there's a plastic 'tang' on the trim piece about half way down the back. It does just prise out:- slip a plastic trim tool down the back and try to release it from where the tool meets the tang rather than the top (it tends to bend otherwise).

Note that the bevelled top of the switch means it comes out more easily than it goes back in. I'd recommend sticking a strip of tape on the door card behind where it sits, so the square-edged base doesn't catch the door card trim when you squeeze it back in.

If you're just going in to replace the bulb, then it's accessible from underneath the switch without any further dismantling.

Otherwise... watch out for the little pieces and the spring.

Thanks all. I was able to withdraw the cover piece, although I will say it took some force to pull that clip out.
