While my mirror is out, it came apart in more pieces. See photos.
It looks like the sensor on the small circuit board should go on in a position to be visible through the small rectangular hole on the back plate but I see not way to hold it in place if that is the case. Nor does the back plate piece want to stay in place without glue of some sort

could that sensor be rain sensor for wipers? if so, it would face the windshield.

 

I believe that it is the sensor for the automatic headlights and I finally figured out how to put it all back together

 

Well, the mirror did not last a whole month with the gorilla epoxy. It looks like the epoxy stuck to the metal ring but not the windshield. Not sure what other options there are and not sure what the dark gray part is that is part of the windshield. Maybe if I knew exactly what that was i could find something else.

Check with a local long-time-in-business auto glass shop to see what type of adhesive they use....
