Hi Dave-

What reference material are you looking at?

On a 2001 XK8, the ignition control modules are deleted and their function is incorporated out of the ECU directly.

Give us more info and maybe we can help.

Default misfire help please

Hi,
thanks for your quick response.

the obd codes show misfire on cylinders 1 , 2 , 3 , 4.
which for 2001 XK8 represents bank of cylinders on passenger side (usa)
ive replaced spark plugs with Bosch platinum.
replaced coil pack in cyl 1. moved around,
nothing has changed in obd codes.

can't remember where i saw the two ignition control modules called out, but i do remember it was a drawing on this forum. my mistake for not noting the model year.

is it possible to reset ecu?

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You can disconnect the battery, turn on the ignition and touch the positive and negative leads together for a few seconds to reset the ecu.

If you reset the codes, and check the codes again after running for a few seconds, do all four misfires come up together, or does one come up first?
If one comes up first, that is usually the bad coil in this type of situation.

Dan - you may get better response to the question on repair shops in the regional section
