Hay all, I had an issue with the valet button on the dash, and with no key and with the chance someone pressing it and messing up my day. I went to disconnect it and with the knee bolster off I noticed there's a slot in the back that looks like a cover of some sort would go into it. Is there a foot guard/upper cover that protects the steering column and wire harness thats missing? I looked at all the parts manuals I could find and not getting anywhere. most other cars Ive looked at have something there for protection. I don't think Jaguar would skimp on that. Any direction would be appreachated

 

That slot engages with the lower part of the dashboard when the knee bolster is re-installed. It is possible the knee bolster was installed incorrectly before without engaging that slot.

 

Oh so I take it there's no covers under the steering colume or the glove box. you would think with all the wires and blower there would be.
