Yes - I recall the same discussion.

This related to the early 4.0 litre engine where Jaguar increased the recommended capacity primarily to avoid oil starvation during spirited cornering. The TSB detailed the recalibration of the original dipstick and the part number that superseded it if owners wanted a replacement.

The later 4.2 litre engines had this increased capacity from the start with an appropriately calibrated dipstick.

Well the noise actually seems a bit better - Either that or my paranoia has got better! There was another thing I wanted to ask - Does anyone know the best way to check the window wiper system? It kind of patheticly dribbles water as opposed to spraying!

In regards to the overfill - I wondered myself if the garage that gave it the last service (the place I bought the car from) saw that bulletin and thought it was for this model of car and overfilled anyway.... One would think they'd check the dipstick but.....

Still nothing seems to have been damaged and it was a relatively small overfill as they go so alls well that ends well!

The aerosols of compressed air used for cleaning PC's are good for blowing them clear.

I removed the supply hose at the supply hose at the wiper and followed Graham's procedure with the compressed air. I also used a small wire to clean a couple of the nozzles that the air would not clear. I then with hose discounted ran the washers to clear the supply line. This worked for about 6 months. Last week I followed the same process and added one more step, i attached a 1/4 inch hose to a hose and flushed the tank. I was amazed at the trash and slime that came out of the tank. We flush radiators, change the oil. This is the first time that I ever flushed a washer reservoir. Hope it helps. Jim
