Default Mpg

Afternoon gents,

I alluded to this on the "MPG study" thread, but I didn't want to hijack it so thought I'd start a new one for my question.

I was getting 14.4 UK MPG around town, ~16 including motorways. I've since cleaned the throttle body, which has given me a bit more ( I'm getting around 16/17 around town so far ).

I've booked myself in for a Terraclean next saturday, so hopefully that should help too ( I've got 100k miles on my car ).

My question is, does anybody have any tips for increasing MPG other than the obvious ( change filters, check tracking, etc )? I'm thinking of things like cleaning the throttle body that aren't particularly well documented.

My google-fu fails me.

I work from home, so it wouldn't be cost effective for me to do an LPG conversion.

I found that the secret to improved mpg is to cut out short journeys. Since I last reset the trip computer, I have covered 1,323 miles and averaged 29.2 mpg. It helps living in a market town in a rural area as nowhere in town is too far to walk or cycle and the nearest town of any size in any direction is about 30 miles away.
