Glad you got the issue resolved. It is very unlikely the bad bushing was replaced the first time. I'd speak with the shop. Take the old parts with you. gordo

I'm so mad at that shop, I don't want to even talk to him (the owner) . And he had the ***** to ask me to go play golf with him sometime! He may not have even known the shortcuts his mechanic took, but still, I can't even think about driving his direction.

Lesson learned on this one, give the work to reputable, referral independents, if i'm going outside of dealer services.

And I still maintain that the best use of a Forum like this is for owners to share referrals about service and parts providers who are stand-up people. Care to name the guys with pizza sauce on their uniforms for the benefit of others?

Well now there you go, the "British Auto" guys have to be on the ball. Naturals, even.

Default Front suspension packers

I took my shocks off with good intentions to replace the springs, upper mounts and lower bushing. The new lower bushings, URO, rusted on the inside so I can’t use them, will order again from a different supplier. The new springs came with one lower packer each, however my XKR convertible came with three black packers underneath the white spring base. Does this sound normal? My front was down two and half inches, camber was way off, not sure how many packers to put back in. 20 inch wheels makes me consider all four. And how is the camber adjustment made on this suspension?

Couldn't do it without your help, thanks forum

Randy

It sounds normal to me. My 2003 XKR front suspension is stock and has three black packers as described.

Randy, did you get the new standard springs?
If so, when we did Kelly's we only used 2 of the packers and this along with new lower bushings and top shock bushings put the camber to almost perfect spec's.
With all you are doing, the single one may even be the right one for your application.
Sorry the URO lowers were junk as they arrived.
As for the 20 inch rims, generally they don't cause a problem in camber area, but each of these cars seems to have it's own set up, so reducing the pad the springs set on may be something you will have to do if the springs don't settle down in the 15 5/8 inch area.

Springs should be for a convertible. Interesting they’re 15 5/8 tall just resting, Which is what I’m hoping to get when I’m finished. New Spring 1 1/8 taller than my old original ones, 20 year, 39,000 miles.
