I think I was quoted for a re-veneering at that price, but I think stripping and refinishing is more labor intensive. I want to get the door panel inserts to match the veneer and that's the only right way to do it, IMO. As for just a strip and refinish, I have no clue...

Google the phrase "woodworking clubs" along with your city and state. If you're in a decent-sized metro area, you'll find at least several woodworking clubs typically comprised of retired guys who spent their careers in the woodworking or milling industries. Call them, talk to them, let them know what you would like for them to do for you. Most of these old-timers have access to complete woodworking shops with every tool known to man, and have thousands of hours of experience on each and every machine as well. I'm betting they'll be happy to handle your refinishing project for you for a nominal fee if not completely free simply because this is what they enjoy doing....

I had a magnificent custom teak jewelry box built this way for my wife a little more than twenty years ago. I supplied the teak lumber, they did all the design, milling, assembly, and finishing. It is still a gorgeous piece of fine furniture that sits in a prominent place on my wife's teak dresser. They would not take any money from me, so I purchased about a hundred bucks of nice hardwood lumber and took it to them when I picked up the finished jewelry box. They were thrilled with the fresh lumber, and my wife still loves her custom jewelry box....

Old-timers like this can professionally restore and refinish anything that is made of wood. Do some Google searching and I'll bet that you'll find your solution that pleases both your eye and your checkbook....

Default NAV upgrade?

"I have completed my next series of modifications to my 2002 XKR: Next, I figured out a way to have my cake and eat it to. Specifically, I have the factory nav system, which I have updated to a modern system using a Garman device designed to use the original factory screen."

Mark, I noticed this hidden in your original post. Could you tell us what Garman device you used and how you did this? Thanks!

I used a GVN 53 from Garman; it's designed to be used with OEM screens. I followed posts from WhiteXKR and H2Oboy. It works very well and I really like it. I even just updated the maps with maps from May of this year. While the buttons on the side no longer work, I find I like the remote control better than I did the buttons.

I'll be happy to help with any questions you might have on this upgrade. Also, www.thejagwrangler.com now makes an adapter cable to simplify the video conversion.
