My buddy Frank has been drooling over my Jaguars for a while now, so I helped him find his dream car - a 1998 BRG XK8 with 87K miles -- very nice except the driver's seat and a little issue with code P1797 accompanied by Transmission Fault/Restricted Performance messages. It runs and drive like a charm, no misfires, no clunking or other obvious signs of a transmission problem. He drove it home without any problems -- about 150 miles. He's in seventh heaven!

 

Now get Frank on here so we can hammer him about the tensioners!
Nice car........my favorite color and you can't beat those revolvers. Always nice to live the dream.

That code is a failure to communicate.....not Paul Newman, but the transmission to the ECU. Check the connections.

 

That picture's not very clear, but I can imagine I see a big smile on his face! Livin' the dream for sure, we all are.
