Default Navigation System

Hi Guys,
Just a question about the navigation system - I have a MY2000 XKR coupe with the nav built into the dash. I want to covert it over to an AU map, I have read somewhere that the system may be the same one as used in some toyotas? Can anyone clarify exactly what nav system is used and what maps / firmware updates can be installed on it? Can I put on later model firmware that gives me more options?

Its an alpine system using NAVteq software & maps

AU, australian? Not sure they made maps for you guys. But i could be wrong.

Last known map/software update for this system is 2004.

any idea how to play with it? Is there a USB hidden somewhere or is it a case of boot-loading DVDs?

All software is DVD installed, including map retrieval and firmware updates.

U could go custom and just use the screen as an output for an aftermarket navigation system, like the Garmin AVN53, or its latest version.

2004 is the last update ? Mmm, don't they sell annual updates on these ?
I just purchased an 04 XK8 and am looking for the lastest DVD as mine already shows nothing where I see a road !

Welcome to the Jaguar world of "I don't live (or drive) on the map!" My 2000 XK8's Alpine system isn't bad in cities and on major roads. Leave a major road and drive on a country road and your Nav display will have you driving in the "nowhere" zone! There isn't an update for the 2000 year. The company that did the updates doesn't anymore.

I'll never buy a car with the NAV built in again!! I bought a Garmin and have updated it online twice now. Very accurate too!

Yeah, I hear you...
I came across a road the other day that wasn't that old...not there according to GPS.
Aren't these all made by either Pioneer or Kenwood anyway ?
Someone has to make new versions ~ who does them currently ?
