Hey silverXJ, remember, I am on your side when it comes to installing HIDs into reflector housings, but in this case, the xks from conception used halogens in projector headlamps, so a conversion to HID is actually very easy to do and safe/legal as well, though an adjustment after install would definitely be wise, just to be sure.

One thing that has yet to be brought up in the HID conversion, yea or nay dicussions as a indicator of whether it works is driver experience in bad weather. All of it is pictures in clear weather.

If a particular conversion is hard to drive in fog because of reflected glare, or road sign reflections are blindingly bright ... it's payback for a bad conversion on unsuitable housings.

The XK may be a completely different story as you say.

I have found no difference with a HID conversion as apposed to OE, the only time you get a noticable difference is if you go over 6000K, I beleive the standard are only 4000K.

I will only fit 6000 and lower anything more and you start losing light even though they are technically brighter, they just go blue

I replaced mine with the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras. Amazing Difference!

That's what I would use also if I didn't have, nor want aftermarket HIDs, with our without projectors, they're good aftermarket halogens.

Thw word is out that the North American market Sylvania halogen bulbs are inferior to the Sylvania/Osram bulbs marketed in Europe on a model to model basis.

The Silverstar Ultra can no longer be found on the Sylvania site. It disappeared sometime in the last month or so.

But, specialist sites can always supply good bulbs. eg. Sylvania/Osram Rallye.
