Lightbulb

Ms. Bluefin,
My XKR is a 2005..Black with Ivory interior. It has the R Performance Package and the Red Brake Caliper Package and the 20's are Montreal's...It's my 4th XK and you don't want to hear the story about the other 3.....

With you help, I have now ordered a set of Clear lenses from your Buddy in England! They should be in Houston around the 8th or so......I ordered the little chrome light bulbs from my Guy in England last week and they should be here by Friday...So I'm set!

Apparently, I'm going to have to break the yellow cover off the lighting assembly and glue the Clear lenses on to the body of the Light....Now I understand your use of the Glue.....What type of Glue should I use? Are does he send instructions..........

I try to send some Photos when I get every thing together! I'll probably need help with that also!

take a sharp kitchen knife with sturdy blade that will NOT bend...slide it between the old amber lens and the silver fixture. slide AWAY from you with a steady hand and it will separate. make sure to sand down any orange bits remaining on the silver fixture, or it will show through the clear lens...

the first time, i used gorilla glue GEL. this caused the chemical reaction to haze the lens. if you zoom in on my pic, you can see it looks frosted. the lenses should be pretty clear with the little diamond texture to diffuse the light...

yesterday i bought a clear 2 part epoxy from gorilla. the guy at the auto parts store said it would not react with plastic/acrylic, and its safe. use the smallest amount just on the perimeter of the fixture, and snap the new lens on top. put a clamp or rubber band for 30 mins.

then attach to the car. also, if the led bulb doesnt glow, it's probably upside down. i found out there is only 1 way to insert it correctly...

my blinker makes a rapid blinking "sound" from inside the car when i activate it now, but the led light blinks at normal speed when i drive. weird, but hopefully it wont bother you...

good luck! your car sounds gorgeous!!! clear markers are gonna make it look amazing... and the R performance package is fun, i love it.

Ms. Bluefin,

The problem with the rapid blinking is that you used a LED bulb....our cars have a CAMbus computer system that doesn't recognize LED Bulbs....You need to get those Chrome bulbs #2825 from ebay that blink Amber, then everything will be OK!
