Default Need happy thoughts...

Let's start by saying that failing night vision stinks. I just nailed a curb and blew out both left side tires. Aaaaargh. No visible rim damage (yet). Send happy thoughts my way. Lol

I just washed and waxed her today too. At least she looks pretty.

Default New tyres means that you go faster

Sorry to hear about your accident.

Haapy Thoughts - New tyres mean that you can go faster.... just not at night time though

Please be very careful with that. I had a friend in college, that was driving me and another friend to another town to go see a movie. She happened to mention that her night vision wasn't great, so if we saw anything in the road to not assume she did. We were dumb college students, and humored her, but didn't make too big a deal about it. Less then a month later when we were on Christmas break she died in a car accident driving at night. She was 19, but just happened to have bad night vision. So in all seriousness if this is an issue you are developing, please do something about it, or get someone else to drive at night.

I guess those weren't happy thoughts, but I felt I had to go there. Best of luck man, both to you and the car.

The Metroplex seems to be full of killer curbs that were designed to keep the Discount Tire stores on every street corner in business. My daily commute has at least 3 curbs that jut a foot into the lane and it pure muscle memory i don't hit them.

In Southlake We spent $40 Million in fracking revenues on square cornered, wheel killing medians, AFTER striping our 4 lane main drag to 6 lanes.

Thanks folks. I have been seriously considering limiting my night driving. My wife went so far as to suggest it to me as well this morning.

My rims (double fives) came out unscathed, and a 24 hour tire store provided a used front so I could get out of the rather unsavory neighborhood I was broke down in.

On to the next adventure!

You know, these cars are lots of fun to drive in the daytime.
I'm getting older and things don't work the way they use to, and things that used to work don't anymore. It sucks. I notice that I grunt or moan when I sit down or get up. I don't know why.
We need to make adjustments.
If driving at night needs to be left to someone else, so be it. Your life may depend on it.
Your wife has your back.

I'm 77 and feel your pain and understand the potential loss of independence that comes with not being able to drive at night. The glare from the extremely bright headlights in modern cars just adds to the difficulty of having your eyes adjust as quickly as they used to. A few years ago I had cataract surgery and had the OEM lens in each eye replaced. Huge improvement in overall vision (back to 20-20 in one eye and 20-25 in the other) with some improvement in my night vision. Expensive, but worth it. I also purchased a pair of yellow night driving glasses on Amazon, and found that they cut the glare from oncoming headlights and also improved my night driving vision a bit. Relatively inexpensive and effective; you might want to give them a try.

My night driving problems are mostly the result of scarring on my cornea. The light refraction can be utterly ridiculous. I'm also not helping myself by stubbornly refusing to remove the tinting from my side windows. LOL it is Texas, and it does help!

I've seen the commercials on TV for night driving glasses. if you're endorsing them, I may just have to give them a try!
