You should let us know the type of Jaguar you have! They are all a bit different.
Since you are on the XK8/XKR threads I will assume you have one.
Use your key (black color)in the rear XK8/XKR emblem on the right side of rear end by the taillight and I believe you will find a key hole in the middle of the X and K of the emblem, X*K8 or X*KR.
Look with flashlight not easy to see if you do not know it is there.
Good luck.

Under the hood, connect the battery (+) to the to the bolt under the rubber cover at the fusebox, and (-) to the chassis, as shown below with a set of jumper cables. Take care not to short the cable. Then open the trunk using the button. DO NOT START THE CAR THIS WAY.

Thanks to Paul Pavlik for this and GGG for the reference above..

The green key is for valet, won't let you in trunk or glovebox.
So the next best idea is WhiteXKR's jumping the car via the engine compartment. the bolt under the rubber cover is on the driverside about 6 inches behind and 4 inches to the right of the red oil stick handle. The bolt is on the front left corner of the black fuse box on drivers side engine compartment .
Take your new battery and use jumpers place the positive on the bolt and place the negative on the chassis of the car. And that should get 12 volt power to the system and push the trunk button and disconnect right away.

OK ,got in trunk, car started and now have "TRANSMISSION FAULT" code doesnt shift gears. Still have the same old battery. could this be the issue. Ran fine before dead battery.
also while I was attempting to sart the car before locking trunk,it was throwing weird codes.....now that it's started only the Transmission code. hope this helps some.
Thanks

Did you charge the battery? If so how?
If the battery seems good then try disconnecting the negative lead from it, touching it on the positive lead for 30 secs then reconnecting the negative lead to the battery.
If it works you'll need to 're-train' the windows.
Check you've got a 4 digit radio security code BEFORE YOU DO THIS!!!

I thought your original problem was a dead battery? Discharged or dead batteries cause all kinds of problem codes. The battery needs to be fully charged or replaced and the codes cleared.
Is there some detail we're not hearing here such as the vehicle hasn't been started in a long while or it had other issues before the flat battery?
