Need help finding new convertable top latching peices
I have a 2004 XK8, which I love, but the plastic on some parts is getting old and becoming a challenge. In this case specifically the convertible top has two fittings that the top of the windshield latches onto. These are made of metal but are over-molded with plastic. When I first got the car they were intact but have since deteriorated so that the plastic over-molding has cracked off. The result is a part that fits a little loose and I think is making my roof knock around as the car flexes due to road conditions.
Does anyone know where I can get some replacement parts that have the plastic intact and in good condition? I tried a local (Austin, Texas) dealer, who looked up and found the part, but said they don't stock it anymore. I've got to believe this is an issue for a lot of others.
Since the part is no longer available - best bet would be used but may be in same situation once you receive. Maybe try plasti-dip coating. If all else fails - jagbits shows a used set - https://www.jagbits.com/product/HJA8211BB-USED.html
Thanks. I purchased the part. Hopefully it works as expected. When the last one cracked I took the plastic bits and threw them away. If this one does the same I will carefully try to glue/melt them back in place.
If that one doesn't work out, PM me. I have parted 25 X100's and have 7 more awaiting their turn. I can supply undamaged ones, or about anything else you need.
I have done business with "jshaub" several times. Great guy, very fair prices and never been disappointed. A great place to do business

Hi, I also have a 2004 XK8. I needed a new instrumount for mine and found it at https://www.autoreservejaguar.com They are out of the UK and can be found on ebay. Part was exactly what I wanted, it fit, and the price was good. Good luck with your car. I think the 2004’s are beauties. Cheers

I bought the part from Jagbits for $60 thinking it would be a set but no. It's one part and a damaged one at that. What a waste. Wont be buying anything from them without a picture ever again.
