Default Need help with replacing fuel filter 2003 XK8

Can anyone help me with the trick to releasing the fuel lines for the fuel filter. I have the bayonet style connectors. All of the other threads reference 2 blue clips that need to be depressed to release the line but I don't see that on mine. There is a white part that I assume gets pressed in to make the seal but I can't any way to release it. There are 2 tiny holes opposite the white part that I am guessing that one might need to put some tool in to push out the white clip but I have no clue what kind of tool that I should use to do it. I'm including a pic of the connection. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You are going to need a set of fuel line disconnect tools like these :-

Got mine from ebay, really cheap

Hi.

To disconnect the lines in the engine compartment and by the fuel tank you will need the tools.
To disconnect lines by the fuel filter I don't think you need any tools.
Release the fuel pressure first.

Mine has the same connector, all I had to do was push in the white tab and it pulled off. Have you tried a decent twist and pull while pushing the tab in?

If you 'twist and pull', put the stress on the filter and not on the fuel lines or you'll end up with a very much bigger weekend job.

Yeah, I should have been clearer. Twist it enough to get the o-ring to unstick (20-30 degrees), not rotate the heck out of it.

Woox4,
Thanks. I thought I probably needed to push that white tab somehow. But I tried pushing mine in yesterday and it didn't budge. I didn't release the pressure in the line first though. Could that be why the tab didn't push easily? Did you release the fuel line pressure first on yours or do I just have to push harder on the tab? Did you use your finger or did you use a tool to push the tab? Thanks, Alan

Oyster's post is the same one I used to do mine and is a good reference. Didn't bleed the pressure as no fuel rail schrader valve on later cars and I just pushed it in with a screwdriver as access is a little tight. Have a good look at the second photo in post 11 of Oyster's link, by the look of your photo in this thread I think you have it almost all the way in.

It is a firm connection so don't be shy of giving it a decent pull.

Default Success! Thanks.

woox4 and all,
Thanks for your help. I was able to get the connectors off finally. I got the white tab to move with firmer pressure with my thumb and gentle wiggling released the quick-connect.I did actually release the pressure in the fuel line as mine has the schraeder valve on the fuel rail. I think that might have helped to release the pressure and let the white tab move more easily. It was a little tight working around the suspension with the car up on ramps. I wonder if it would have been easier to access the filter with jack stands instead of ramps. But with some contortions I was able to get to it.

I saw that many other threads recommended a Purolator filter from Advance autoparts. But my local Advance autoparts found what they said was an OEM part by Hengst. It was $10.33. So with the $39 ramps and the $10 filter this was a whole lot better than the $217 that the jag dealer in Denver wanted to charge for replacing the filter. I'm including a photo of the Hengst part below. it was a perfect fit in the cage and seemed to seal perfectly with the quick connects.

Thanks again for all of your help everyone.
