Need wider rims & tires for xk8
i have a 98 xk8 going w/ new rims & tires
My question is what is the widest tire I could put on the rear
And the widest for the front . I read on this form a guy fit 285/40/18 w/ no probably but never said what year his car was or what size he put on the front or if he changed to a different offset for either front or rear wheel.
Any info will be highly appreciated
Thanks Jeff

The optional 20" wheels have a 285 rear and 255 front tire on 10 and 9" wheels respectively. Offsets are 18mm rear, 25mm front.
All year cars are the same so that setup will work well on a 98.
You can get away with slightly wider wheels and tires but you have to be careful with offsets to avoid rubbing.

Might not be as wide as you want but I have 255/45/18 with 24 offset front and rear, plenty of room left in the wheel wells for wider. As said watch the off set.

Here's a great comparison calculator. While not vehicle specific it does show you what to look for.
