One of the best red cars IMHO is the New Formula Red NSX. Dad still doesn't allow me to drive it. Unfortunately, the previous owner made a mistake, he was doing some touch up on the front bumper because of road rash and he painted it one shade darker.

This thread reminds me of what a wonderful wife I have. She is not a car person. Her favorite car is her current one, a 2007 Ford Edge. Not exactly a car one tends to dream of, but it is reliable and comfortable. She recently took a 400 mile trip with me in the Jaguar, and it had it's "issues" for most of the trip. But she never complained, and when I started getting discouraged with the car, she assured me that it would all be OK in the end, and that she felt sure I could correct the problems. Sorry, a little off topic....BTW, my XK is called Carnival Red. Not really a bright red, but it looks nice when it is clean.

 

A rare sighting (for me) of a red XK8 with black convertible top this past weekend in St. Augustine, FL. For a minute or two I rode along side of the older fellow in the red machine with my XJ6 at a slow pace in heavy tourist traffic, then as I pulled away I gave him a nice wave and honk of the horn.....and he just looked at me like I was an alien. My wife laughed. Either the feller wasn't freindly, or the fact that I, too, had a jag, and we were brothers of sorts was lost on him....

 

I'm the same way Joe, I'm always looking to get a return wave from fellow jag drivers, they're so easy to spot once you own one. Even the older models. I'd say my batting average on this is about .500, probably less. I keep swinging though.

 

Bright red is the color my wife wishes mine was, but she likes it far better than the 86 944 Turbo I had until the end of last year when I 'traded'. And that means a lot! She's starting to like driving with the top down when she's able to take it out sans-kids. Also lucky to have an accepting wife here- she's somewhat of a car gal. She drove a huge 1972 fire engine red longbed Chevy pickup with a 402 in college and loved it.

Red is a hard sell, at least for guitars, something which I know much better than I know Jags.

Sure, it's a great color, but it's too gawdy for most and too much of an attention grabber.

Colin speaks the truth! Jabingb's red (salsa red, I believe) 03 xkr is a beautiful car.

 

As it turns out was standing on the street waiting for my wife to pick me up and a '99ish XKR in red drove by. So there is at least one out by me. Likely she was heading to the Jag dealership which was half a block in front of her.

When I bought my first XK I was adamant I did not want red as they were so prevalent, but now I have one I quite like it

I think the Radiance Red is awesome on these cars. I'd trade my black one
for that color if all other variables could be held constant

 

I believe the color you all are searching for is called Phoenix Red. Furthermore, this was the launch color for the first generation XKR.

 

Is Radiance Red of the 2005-2006 models the same as Carnival red of 1998-2004? It appears to be the same color as mine (2002 XKR) unless it is a drop pinker.

 

FWIW, I could never tell any difference between the two.

A rich, deep red metallic... my XJ8 was this color and it was stunning.
