Default New electrical issue?

My '98 XK8 Coupe started not problem after sitting for a couple of weeks because of the ice & snow. Both windows were closed. As I'm driving i get a warning light (red) that the passenger door was open. I stopped and reclosed it a couple of times but the light stayed on. With the car running I tried the door again and then tried the window switch on the passenger door. Window wouldn't move. I tried locking and unlocking the passenger and the window moved down without the switch. Now it won't go back up and the warning light is still on. Issue? Solution? Thanks, Steve G.

As always with weird electrical issues on an XK8/XKR, first eliminate the battery as a possible cause.

There's a microswitch in the Door Latch triggers the door open warning. A known failure.

I too have a 98. Let me guess, the pudle light does not come on when door open.

If so, I suspect the door switch in the latch mechanism. Switch telling car the door is open.

It's a pain in the neck to fix but certainly not super advanced mechanics or anything.

The window will be moving in strange ways if this is true, but I don't remember mine not working at all, so nothing's for sure yet.

Let's 1st ID the problem then let's talk about the fix.

I went through my check list this morning...checked battery voltage, fuses in passenger door, obvious connections in door everything seems fine. Decided to try a "hard" reboot..and to my total surprise everything now works. Jaguar gremlins get nasty when you don't drive the car enough, doesn't like to sit. Thanks for the input.
