New engine high fuel trims
#41
It seems to be running too well to have skipped a tooth, it actually feels fine in terms of drivability and seems to have pretty much full power.
Everything seems to point to an airleak. I had it smoke tested and they said it passed but I don't think they did the exhaust. It also passed my sketchy homemade smoke test. I also cold started it and then blocked the exhaust with shop towels for about 30 seconds. I did not notice anything in the engine compartment for the few seconds I had to look. After I removed the shop towels I noticed some condensation had come out of the driver side flange where the exhaust bolts to the manifold.
The nuts on the studs feel tight, but I don't know the correct spec. I am trying to schedule another smoke test (including the exhaust) for next week. Thanks again for all your help. I will report back after I get it smoked again.

I recently started throwing P030X codes and in very short order, the 1316 as well. One of the rubber boots (seals) connecting the supercharger output ducts to the Heat Exchangers had ruptured badly. While she running on the road all seemed well (airflow supply & demand must have been closely matched), but when she was idling it was a pretty lumpy / lurchy affair.
However, in my case the rupture wasn't too hard to find - it made quite a bit noise. I found the exact spot by dangling a paper tissue in and around the area. Not only was the tissue drawn toward leaking area, IT WAS SUCKED INTO IT!!!
The real frustration for me was that those were brand new rubber boots I'd bought from Gaudin only a few months earlier (I still haven't heard back from them yet either). Thankfully I'd saved the OEM boots (With "only" 115,000 miles on them) because they were in excellent shape. One evening's work later I was back on the road with no codes.
