I purchased a 97 XK8 convertible with 76000 miles on it. No real history but Auto Check says Electrical system service in 2006 at 36758 miles,Vehicle Service in 2007 at 48776 miles Brake Service & Electrical system service in 2008 at 60309 miles. All done at dealer. I found a receipt for new black leather interior done in 2005 and a yellow sticky note saying the timing chain was replaced in summer of 2010 for $1900.
I am getting the ABC/stability & traction warnings so I'll start with cleaning the sensors for this. I also get the low brake fluid warning (its full).
I am going to call the dealer to see if they can give me more info on the service and get the radio code.

The main thing you need to worry about is the timing chain tensioners. If the chain was replaced in 2010, then they tensioners were probably done then, too, but you never know. And the fact that it was on a "sticky note" is less authoritative than an invoice from a dealer.
What Sam said. Also, the water pump and thermostat are suspect on your MY and should be updated. Overheating can happen otherwise.
Convertible top: potential for "green shower" here. Until you can research it, don't cycle the top with the car's engine running. Hydraulic pressure is higher that way than if you raise or lower it engine-off.
Good luck.

Thanks for the info. The sticky note had the name of the independent shop that did the work so I will try to contact them . Good tip on the top, I didn't know that!
