Default New (to me) gorgeous BRG XK8!

Hi all
So excited about my new 05 Jag XK8 in British Racing Green. I was sad to trade my 04 XJ8 but as soon as I saw this posted online (in Houston) I acted quickly and made the deal. It's in great condition mechanically and aesthetically and given the age, it's amazing that it has less than 50k miles. The only quibbles are that I wish it had the gauges instead of the old Nav and the interior headliner is really dirty. I wanted to thank you guys on this forum for all the dialogue that I've read through the last few months as I stared looking. It really helped in making a smart purchsse decision. Next step: a Mina boot spoiler, a new headliner and making room in the garage!

Very nice! You can always switch out he nav for the gauges (see thejagwrangler.com). I have an 02 xkr and plan on making the switch. I bought a center gauge panel on ebay and it matches amazingly well.

I did moreless the same.....i traded in my XJ8 4.0 (petrol blue) for an XKR 4.2 2005MY, i really did love the XJ, but it did have a bit of a senior feeling to it, the XKR however is a reclamation of youth !!!! TS

I know what you mean! I loved my XJ, and, for as old as it was I received so many compliments on it. I would have loved to have found a BRG or JRG XKR coupe but there were slim pickin's anywhere within a reasonable distance. As it is drove 3 hours to and fro for the XK8. Congrats on your R trevor, shes gorgeous, love the wheels.

Congratulations on a great looking convertible. I have enjoyed mine topless nearly every day for the past 4 years, one of the few benefits of living in Los Angeles. sunshine 360 days per year. Enjoy it but be prepared to be complimented several times a day by total strangers. It's endless!

Lovley car. Before commiting to change the headlinning try cleaning it. I used alcohol/ methalated spitits and lots of clean cloths and it transformed it. Mostly it was covered in black road dirt and soot.

Very nice, especially with the low miles, great wheels and BRG!!
I agree on trying to clean the headliner first.

+1 on cleaning the headliner first. If it is dirt and stains it will clean up better than you think. Be careful of just cleaning the dirty spots, that will leave a ring. Clean a wider area that the spots themselves.

Also, if the stains are orange-ish in color, especially along the frame bows, then the foam in your lining is breaking down. This will come back until it is replaced.

Thanks guys, while there are some dirt spots on top of my headliner the biggest issue is the big orange stains on the frame bows like Mike said. Might have to replace it now. The wheels are 19's, and I believe they're called Artura. They're OEM and I'm pretty sure I've seen them on some XJs and XFs.

Jorge,

Before you clean it with whatever product you have picked, vacuum the headliner very thoroughly, especially around the orange stains. This will get all the loose foam material off and make it easier to clean. It will also help avoid spreading the stains.
