New Member In Texas
I am a new member of the Forum, and in just a few short hours of browsing around the site I have learned more about my car than I knew in the 6 years I have had it, just an outstanding site with some very knowledgeable and generous people. I do have a couple of questions that maybe I can get some local help … as I just blew up my engine! And spent over 6,000 getting it fixed at a local shop (non Jag but a great guy and mechanic) I think it is time for me to really spend some time and money to bring this car back to its original glory and beyond! I have a 99 XK8, what I am looking for is two things: 1) where is the best Jag mechanic / restoration / add on guy in Dallas and 2) is there a local Jag club here in Dallas. I look forward to all the great advice I will get and hopefully one day I will be smart enough to be able to add to the knowledge base.

I haven't heard of Jims Jag Shop, but I haven't had a need for a mechanic in over a year now, been fortunate to be able to do most of my own maintenance.
Mark, you being in Denton, bob's shop (motorcarman on here) would definitely be the closest for you. He has all the original WDS equipment so can diagnose as well as any dealer can for your model year, not to mention all of the documentation he compiled from working for the dealer. I'd consider it as an option.
Welcome wanchai! We have alot of members from the DFW metroplex area, it should be a large turnout if anyone actually does a well organized, planned meetup sometime in the future!

Welcome! Jim's Jag shop was run by a father and son team. A couple of years ago, the father took ill and the son ran things all by himself. The biggest challenge there, from what I hear, is that it takes a long time to get on his list, and a long wait to get your car back. Haven't heard much about the quality of work, but the son spent years at a Jag dealership.
I fully agree that Motorman is the finest Jag mechanic in the Dallas area. I recently had some work done at his shop in the country. He makes the toughest jobs look easy. His knowledge of the entire Jag model line is mind-blowing. He spent many years working for Autobahn in Ft. Worth. The best part of visiting him is enjoying the fresh air and acreage he has right outside of his massive garage.
He's also experienced in Volkswagons and there's a priceless vintage Bentley sitting in his garage that he is getting into running condition. He knows his stuff.
I live in Las Colinas. A few of us got together a few months back for lunch in Grapevine. Only thing better than a Jag is a bunch of Jags. Although we got a lot of interest from local guys, it's always tough to coordinate a day that works for everyone. It was our first attempt, but, I'm sure will try again. You're welcome to be our next cruise director!
You'll have a blast on this site. I've saved thousands in repairs thanks to the guys on this site, especially the techs. The videos are awesome. You'll rarely see any question go unanswered.

There is a Jag club in Dallas. I found it by going to the Jag national web site. I joined but never attended any meetings as I lived a fer piece away in East Texas. When I joined I had, still have, my 95 XJ6. I have let my membership expire and may now with the XK8 renew it.
