Default New Mina custom bonnet vents.

New Mina custom bonnet vents.-image.jpg
Just picked up and installed my new Mina Arden style vents! (Had them painted) I LOVE them. I asked Chris to customize his existing "vents" that didnt have vents so they actually could function. I sent him some photo's and he made new models and molds so he can make more. Already had some good comments from people today!
I'm going to actually drill 6 1" holes under each to allow heat to escape. My brother is bending a piece of sheet aluminum to bond under the bonnet so it will shed water away from critical areas and still allow for venting.

Very nice execution on the install, but I'm going to go with no on this mod. Not my style.

But I just saw a custom motorcycle video on YouTube where the guy was responding to critics who asked my he did what he did to the bike. "Because I own it," he said. Yep, that clears it up.

I respect that!
I've always though of our cars as being another extension of ourselves, like our homes. I'd never leave a home I bought just as it was built. (Trust me, my house is a statement!) But I know plenty of friends that still live in their builders white walled homes, never painting or changing anything. And theyre as happy as i am! I guess I like the old saying "bad press is better than no press"!
But I do like my mods, and know they aren't everyone's taste. Hey, I don't like a lot of things people do but it's their car, I just smile, say cool, and move on! I don't like to think I brought down someone's happy!
And wouldn't life be boring if we all drove the same exact car!

Great job. The profile blends in superbly with the original curves on the bonnet.

Phil
That modification on a stock Xk-8 wouldn't much, but with all of the other mods I think it it looks excellent. All of the modifications blend in well together, except your mirrors I would go back to the body color, only my opinion. Keep it up it's great entertainment from week to week. Hopefully you never get it where you want it.

Actually took off the film already. I only did it when I had the fog surrounds in the same brushed finish. My final thing is the interior. When the seats and dooras get done, I'm going back to my XF. It needs a couple things done. It's getting jealous!!

I am ready to order as well... once I can get some FINAL pics... Here are the two pics that Chris sent to me a few months ago:

I REALLY like the way these look compared to some of the other "space ship" looking ones... I do need to decide if I want it body color (platinum) or maybe the black leatherette (although my interior is oatmeal)...

Phil,
I like the fog-lamp surrounds - NICE!
The bonnet air vents - not so much. In my opinion they take away from the clean and soft lines of the factory design. On the other hand, I love the side-skirts - very muscular looking. Almost a shame not to try and match the front bumper spoiler and the rear bumper valance.

The vents may keep water out better than the OEM, but my God...they look like something from Auto Zone my pimple faced neighbor kid stuck on his rice burner with 2-faced tape....

Actually, the front and rear skirts do match the side skirts. The bulges are there but very faint. Doesn't show in the photo. There are are slight flairs front and rear of the wheels that match up to sides.
As for the vents, I'm personally not a huge fan of the factory look for me. Again, they look so different in person. Friends that saw the Facebook photos were skeptical as well but really like them once they saw in person.

No price yet! But now that I actually see a photo, I'd have a problem with it. Since I lost the rear seat, the two middle humps will have to be altered. Argh!!!
