Default New owner of 2006 XK8

The proud new owner of a 2006 XK8. Traded in a 2000 Corvette. The wife was hesitant at first but as she drove the car she started to like it. I think it was a great decision. Was and still am a Corvette enthusiast but I wanted something a little bit more classy. Also I also own a 2002 ZO6 supercharged and a 2010 Callaway Grand Sport but this car is in a league of its own. Thinking of flipping the 2010 Callaway for a 2011 XKR. I love the Jaguars so much better than the Corvettes. Anyone else out there went from the Corvette to the Jaguar? I guess being 60 years old I want something more Refined. Hope to hear from other Jaguar enthusiasts.

Guilty. Much to the chagrin of my wife, I bought a 1995 Corvette around my 46th birthday (red of course). I would have been quite happy to keep the car forever but after 13 years finally agreed to sell it and ended up with my 2005 XKR (more chagrin for the wife). For about a year I had both cars as the Corvette was difficult to sell during the 2008 downturn. So I enjoyed driving both. On days I drove the Corvette I loved that car and on days I drove the Jaguar that was my favorite. Really hard to compare as they are totally different cars. I still miss the Corvette but am very attached to the Jaguar and intend to keep.

Congrats on the new ride. You should try a Maserati (GranTourismo or the older 4200). I suspect you will find it a middle ground between the Jag and The Vette.

Enjoy your rides!

I've driven both Corvette and Jag. The truest car in the middle I've ever driven was a 1st generation NSX

wukyone,
First, congratulations on your new car, I enjoy my 2002 XKR convertible which has 160,000 miles on it and looks almost new and runs great. About 2-3 years ago, I was starting to worry that with the mileage on it, I wanted to extend its life a bit, so I started looking at the 2010 XKR and I purchased a coupe. I love both for different reasons. The X100 is simply more beautiful, sensual, more of a feeling of special occasion car. BUT, the X150 is light years ahead in the suspension-handling department, and the incredible 5.0 engine (w/supercharger) will make you forget your Corvette very quickly. It is tight, incredibly fast, handles and rides extremely well.

I am lucky to have both, and I switch driving them as my daily driver. When I go to the track a couple of times a year, I take the 2010, because the 2002 is just too loosey-goosey and would be scary on the track, and the 2010 just loves to be driven hard and fast.

Get both!
