New Rims and Tires
I picked up a set of Apollo rims last summer, and finally got around to having them refinished. Settled on the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Went with black center caps, and silver/black Union Jack valve stem caps.
Compared to the standard Aris rims, I think it improves the look of the car. Also changed over to the clear side markers/reflectors and had the windows tinted all around. Some before and after shots below, in case anyone was curious how any of these subtle changes would look on his/her car.

That would be really frustrating. I'm sure many of the things we take for granted here in the continental US are much more expensive and a pain for you in Hawaii. At least you can drive yours all year round though!

I'm in the market for a nicer set of wheels, but it can be very difficult to figure out what will and won't work. I have 245/50 17" wheels on my 2000 XK8, and have seen several ads with 235/50 17's. The rims are narrower (7.5" vs. 8"), and in most cases the car model they came off and the bolt pattern aren't even mentioned. I don't want to get stuck with a set of wheels I can't use; anyone know of the correlation between the narrower rim and the bolt pattern?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I have them and found that the Apollos have a great feature. You can reach in and clean the inside of the wheel without removing them from the car. Caliper access is easy too.
Where did you get the stem caps?

Good point! They seem like they'll be much easier to clean than the Aris style I had before. And I found them on eBay. They're OEM Jaguar- were about $20 I think. I was originally looking for Growler ones, but the only ones I could find had the new-style 2012+ Growler, and it would have annoyed me that it didn't match! Haha

Brake Pads---What the skinny?
It's been around, but I would really like to know...........Not trying to hijack the thread, but I'm kinda talking wheels-----
I had the wheels trued on my XK8 conv. today and in the process we began talking about all the dust the pads on my car makes and deposits on the wheel. I told him I was getting ready to change to CERAMIC pads to get rid of the dust and he without hesitation said; "Please don't do that. Ceramic pads will cause the rotors to start wearing faster because they are so hard. It's a real toss up. Now you have dust with the pads on the car, but your rotors are still really good. Put Ceramic pads on and get rid of some of the dust, but your rotors will then begin to wear faster."
Others say not so. Soooooooo, which is it? Ceramic pads are really hard and will wear the rotors faster. Ceramic pads will not wear the rotors faster?
If you really know, please let me know. If your just talking [hearsay], I've read all the [hearsay], so don't need to hear anymore--thanks.
I'm sure the pads will last longer, but with the price of Jaguar rotor parts, I can put up with the dust a lot longer.
